What defines a ‘project’ and what is its role relative to other forms of aid; the project cycle, key documents and stakeholder responsibilities; the link between Project Cycle Management (PCM) and the Logical Framework Approach (LFA); the principles of the Logical Framework Approach and how the main analytical tools can be applied.

Definition of the term „project“ and the relation between policy, program and project. Why can projects fail ? Introduction of the Project Cycle, of the main principles and objectives of PCM as well as of the documents required for the process.

The inter-relation between Project Cycle Management and the Logical Framework Approach. Key features of applying the LogFrame Tool throughout the PCM cycle.
12.00 hrs Tools Part 3 – Stakeholder Analysis, Problem Analysis and Strategy Analysis
Identifying key stakeholders and defining their role in the project cycle. Identifying causes of development problems by means of the problem tree methodology and turning them into strategic goals through an objective tree. Defining strategic options for the project implementation.
12.30 hrs Tools Part 4 – LogFrame Matrix and Project Logic
How to apply the LogFrame Matrix as a tool to define the project´s horizontal and vertical logical strains.

Understanding the role of indicators for the effective implementation of a project. Introduction of different types of indicators and methods as well as sources for their verification.

Reasons for project monitoring and evaluation. What is the difference between monitoring and evaluation ? Main principles of M & E and the information/data required.
